Building hope is the founding principle of DIRA - "to build hope through marketplace opportunities". DIRA began with three women dedicated to the belief that the opportunity to create and prosper is at the core of building hope in the hearts of individuals and communities. We continually search for unique and beautiful products that allow DIRA to serve as a vessel through which artists, craftsmen and their respective communities can expand market share. When you purchase any of our products you are partnering with us to help build hope and prosperity in the lives of these people, and we thank you for taking the time to read their stories of hope fulfilled and to share them with others.

Do you know the plight of the rhino? Some believe that rhino horn has medicinal value although there is no scientific evidence to support this belief. Poachers are illegally pursuing these splendid animals for their horns. Last year over 400 rhino were killed in the Kruger Park of South Africa alone. Together we can make a difference.

Douwlina - A Rhino's Story Children's Book There are two kinds of stories in the world: those that have sad endings and those that have happy endings. Douwlina's story began with great sadness when she lost her mother to poachers, but it has a happy ending. From the time Douwlina was rescued, loving people - and even animals - have stepped forward to care for her.
